Solana’s second rent reduction under proposal SIMD-0437 is set to take effect on mainnet at about 21:15 UTC on Sept. 11, according to monitoring by Anza. The change will land in epoch 1033 and lower the required rent from 6,333 lamports per byte to 5,080 lamports per byte. Anza said that brings the cumulative reduction to about 27% from the original level. The lower setting will also reduce the deposit needed for on-chain storage such as token account creation. There is still no fixed schedule for the remaining steps in the five-stage plan. The third step will only begin after on-chain state growth is confirmed to be safe. If problems emerge, SIMD-0438 can be used as a rollback mechanism to restore the rent parameters. Three steps remain in the overall rollout.

Solana’s second rent reduction under SIMD-0437 will go live on mainnet at about 21:15 UTC on Sept. 11, corresponding to epoch 1033, according to Anza monitoring.

At that point, the rent required per byte will drop from 6,333 lamports to 5,080 lamports. Anza said the total reduction from the original level will reach about 27%. The change will also lower the deposit required for on-chain storage, including the creation of token accounts.

There is no fixed timetable yet for the remaining steps. The third step will wait until on-chain state growth is confirmed to be safe. If any anomaly appears, SIMD-0438 can serve as a rollback mechanism to return the rent parameters to the previous setting. Three steps remain in the five-step plan.
