Swift has completed a major interoperability trial with Chainlink focused on moving tokenized bond transactions across blockchain networks and traditional financial systems. The effort involved BNP Paribas Securities Services, Intesa Sanpaolo, and Société Générale FORGE. The design is notable for what it does not require: institutions do not need to replace their existing infrastructure. Instead, the trial used Swift’s established messaging layer together with Chainlink infrastructure to connect legacy environments with digital asset networks.

Connecting tokenized assets without rebuilding core systems

Chainlink said the trial showed that Swift can coordinate tokenized bond activity across multiple environments, including blockchain networks and established enterprise systems. The work extends earlier projects involving UBS Asset Management and more than 12 global financial institutions. Citi and BNY Mellon were among the firms that previously tested cross-chain settlement using existing payment rails. That continuity matters. The model keeps current institutional workflows in place while adding a path to interact with tokenized assets across chains.

AI-validated data converted into ISO 20022 messages

The project also introduced a framework for standardizing corporate actions data. During testing, Chainlink Runtime Environment validated outputs from multiple AI models, then converted those results into ISO 20022 messages for delivery through the Swift network. The same data was distributed across blockchains through Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, or CCIP. Designated data attestors and contributors verified and enriched the records, and the tested corporate actions dataset reached nearly 100% accuracy.

The system also handled multilingual processing, including Spanish and Chinese disclosures. For institutions managing global datasets, that creates a way to move the same information across different operational environments without breaking data consistency.

Identity, compliance, and cross-chain transfers in one stack

Chainlink has also been extending the setup into identity and compliance. Its partnership with the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation brought in verifiable identity tools for blockchain-based use cases. The approach combines legal identity data with onchain infrastructure so institutions can support compliant transactions, verify asset origin, and apply regulatory requirements programmatically.

Swift and Chainlink also demonstrated cross-chain transfers using CCIP. Those tests involved Euroclear, Clearstream, and Lloyds Banking Group. Taken together, the work shows a practical route for tokenized assets to move across systems while maintaining common standards for data, identity, and compliance.
