Swift CEO Javier Pérez-Tasso said at Sibos 2026 that the company’s blockchain-based ledger is now live and already in use by some large global financial institutions. He added that at least 19 banks are expected to be using the ledger by the end of this year. According to his remarks, those banks will use tokenized deposits covering five major currencies to enable around-the-clock payments. Swift had previously announced the development of the ledger at last year’s Sibos conference. The latest update marks a new stage for the project described by the company a year earlier, with adoption now moving from development into live use among financial institutions.
