The Taipei Exchange said it will hold a virtual asset forum in Taipei on Nov. 11, 2026, with online registration opening on Sept. 7. The event will be held under the guidance of Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission and jointly organized by the Taipei Exchange, Taiwan Stock Exchange, Taiwan Futures Exchange, Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation, and the Virtual Asset Service Providers Association of the Republic of China. The program includes two keynote sessions and a panel discussion focused on Taiwan’s regulatory path for virtual assets, trading practices and risks, and the challenges facing the domestic market after the passage of the Virtual Asset Service Act on June 30, 2026. National Taiwan University law professor Yueh-Ping Yang is scheduled to speak on the development of Taiwan’s virtual asset regulatory framework, while MaiCoin Group general manager Ming-Hui Chen will discuss exchange operations, liquidity management, product design, user services, and trading-related risks. The closing panel will bring together representatives from prosecution, the crypto industry, digital finance, and banking, including BitoPro founder and CEO Kuang-Tai Cheng and KGI Bank senior vice president Chih-Jung Chen.

The Taipei Exchange said it will host a "Virtual Asset Forum" from 9:00 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. on Nov. 11, 2026, at Platinum Hall B on the third floor of the Grand Hilai Taipei. Online registration opens on Sept. 7.

According to a news release issued by the Taipei Exchange, the event will be held under the guidance of Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission. Co-organizers are the Taipei Exchange, the Taiwan Stock Exchange, the Taiwan Futures Exchange, the Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation, and the Virtual Asset Service Providers Association of the Republic of China.

The forum is set to bring together representatives from government agencies, academia, virtual asset businesses, and financial institutions to discuss the development of Taiwan’s virtual asset regulation, trading practices and risks, and the challenges facing the industry along with possible responses.

Forum tied to Taiwan Week and the new virtual asset law

The Taipei Exchange said the event is being arranged in support of the government’s policy goal of turning Taiwan into an "Asian Asset Management Center" and as part of "2026 Taiwan Week." It also comes after Taiwan’s legislature passed the Virtual Asset Service Act in its third reading on June 30, 2026.

With the virtual asset market evolving quickly, questions around balancing sound market development, investor protection, and financial technology innovation have become a shared focus for public agencies, industry participants, and academics. The forum will center on three topics: Taiwan’s regulatory path for virtual assets and its development, virtual asset trading practices and risks, and the challenges and responses facing Taiwan’s virtual asset market.

The organizers have scheduled two keynote speeches and one panel discussion. The stated aim is to improve public understanding of the development of Taiwan’s virtual asset market and its regulatory framework through discussion across different fields.

Yang Yueh-Ping and MaiCoin’s Chen Ming-Hui lead keynote sessions

The first keynote, titled "Taiwan’s Virtual Asset Regulatory History and Development," will be delivered by Yueh-Ping Yang, a professor in the Department of Law at National Taiwan University. The Taipei Exchange said Yang will examine the development and broader context of Taiwan’s legal and regulatory framework for virtual assets, explain the content and institutional features of related rules, and outline possible future directions for the legal framework.

The second keynote, "Virtual Asset Trading Practice and Risk," will be delivered by Ming-Hui Chen, general manager of MaiCoin Group. Based on the event description, Chen will start with global and Taiwan market trends, then discuss the day-to-day operating practices of virtual asset exchanges in areas including liquidity management, product design, and user services. The session will also cover trading-related risk patterns involving fraud, offshore platforms, and asset security, along with practical observations and suggestions on the challenges facing the industry after the implementation of the dedicated virtual asset law.

Closing panel brings together prosecutors, crypto executives, and a bank representative

The closing panel is titled "Challenges and Response Strategies for Taiwan’s Virtual Asset Market Under Regulation" and will be moderated by Yang. Panelists include Wei-Yuan Lo, chief prosecutor at the Shilin District Prosecutors Office and concurrently executive secretary of the Executive Yuan’s Money Laundering Prevention Office; Kuang-Tai Cheng, founder and chief executive officer of BitoPro Group; Kun-Chu Han, general manager of FullSun Digital Co., Ltd.; and Chih-Jung Chen, senior vice president at the corporate banking products division of KGI Commercial Bank Co., Ltd.

The Taipei Exchange said the session will combine perspectives from the justice system, the virtual asset industry, and financial institutions to discuss practical challenges and possible responses as Taiwan’s regulatory framework continues to develop.

The Taipei Exchange said it hopes the forum will help gather views from across sectors, improve understanding of the regulatory framework, market practice, and risk management, and deepen exchange among industry, government, and academia.
