Tesla Taiwan announced on June 16 that it has submitted its FSD (Supervised) application to the Vehicle Safety Certification Center (VSCC), officially entering Taiwan's review process. At the same time, Tesla confirmed that the one-time purchase option for FSD will end on June 30 at 23:59, with a full transition to a subscription model starting July 1.
Review Process: Technical Committee, Ministry Approval, Road Testing
Just days earlier, on June 10, lawmakers and transportation officials stated that Tesla's application was pending but not yet filed. Now the filing is complete. The review will proceed through three stages: a Technical Committee meeting (expected within 2-4 weeks), approval by the Ministry of Transportation (about 2 weeks), and finally road testing. After testing, Tesla must submit results for further review. By comparison, Tesla FSD in China began road testing earlier this year and rolled out city street autopilot to Chinese owners in March. If Taiwan follows the current timeline, FSD could become available to local owners as early as late 2026 to early 2027.
Buyout Ends June 30; HW3.0 Owners Get Free Transfer
Tesla says the one-time FSD purchase will be discontinued globally in Taiwan on June 30 at 23:59. Vehicles already equipped with FSD retain lifetime access. Existing owners without FSD can upgrade via the Tesla App before the deadline. New orders not yet delivered can add FSD at the order page. After July 1, no one-time purchase option will be available on Tesla Taiwan's website or app. For HW3.0 owners, Tesla offers a free FSD transfer: if a current FSD-equipped vehicle owner orders a new car by September 30, 2026, they can transfer FSD to the new vehicle at no cost. Note that EAP (Enhanced Autopilot) cannot be transferred directly; owners must first upgrade to FSD before June 30 to qualify.
Estimated Subscription Price: Around NT$3,000/Month
Tesla Taiwan has not yet announced the subscription price for FSD (Supervised). Using Tesla's premium connectivity pricing as a reference — $9.99/month in the U.S. vs NT$199/month in Taiwan, roughly a 1:20 ratio versus the current 1:31.6 exchange rate — suggests market-specific strategies. A direct dollar conversion of the U.S. FSD subscription ($99/month) yields about NT$3,128. Adjusted for local pricing tail numbers, the Taiwan price likely falls between NT$2,990 and NT$3,190 (approximately $93-$100). For EAP owners, the U.S. upgrade price of $49/month converts to about NT$1,548, possibly landing around NT$1,490-NT$1,590. Official pricing will be confirmed by Tesla Taiwan.
Globally, FSD (Supervised) is now active or approved in 12 markets, including the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, and Belgium. Japan is conducting road tests in Tokyo, Yokohama, and Osaka. Tesla's pure vision system uses cameras and neural networks to detect traffic, pedestrians, road markings, and signals. According to Tesla's Vehicle Safety Report, accident rates for FSD-enabled Teslas under supervision are lower than the U.S. average. For Taiwan owners, June 30 is the critical deadline: those already with FSD are unaffected; those who want the one-time buyout must act within the next two weeks.
