Two brothers from Waller, Texas, Isiah Angelo Garcia and Raymond Christian Garcia, have admitted to their roles in an armed kidnapping case involving a family in Grant, Minnesota, and more than $8 million in crypto assets. The incident took place on September 19, 2025, when the two men entered the family’s home, threatened the household with firearms, and restrained the family members with zip ties for more than eight hours.
Family Forced to Transfer Crypto Assets
While holding the family, the brothers forced the father to transfer more than $8 million from his crypto accounts. They also compelled him to travel to a northern cabin to retrieve additional storage devices. After the victim’s son contacted law enforcement, the two men fled the scene and were later arrested in the Houston area.
The two defendants recently pleaded guilty in federal court in Minneapolis to “interference with commerce by robbery.” Each faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, and both have agreed to pay more than $8 million in restitution. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
