ChainCatcher, citing Decrypt, reported that two brothers from Texas, Isiah Garcia and Raymond Garcia, recently pleaded guilty in federal court in Minneapolis. The two admitted that in September 2025 they entered a home in Grant, Minnesota, while armed and kidnapped members of the household for eight hours.
Victim Forced to Transfer Crypto Assets
According to the case details cited in the report, the suspects forced the homeowner to transfer more than $8 million in cryptocurrency while the family was being held. During the incident, the brothers also took the victim to the victim’s northern cabin to retrieve additional cold wallets and continue the transfers.
After the victim’s son contacted law enforcement, the FBI used items left at the scene to trace the suspects to the Houston area, where Isiah Garcia and Raymond Garcia were arrested. Both men face up to 20 years in federal prison and have agreed to pay more than $8 million in restitution.
