According to Bangkok Post, Thai police and relevant government agencies carried out a joint operation across five provinces in northeastern Thailand, raiding 14 locations and seizing 315 cryptocurrency mining machines. The machines were allegedly operated through illegal electricity connections and tampered power meters.
The report said the suspected electricity theft caused total power-related losses of about 40.38 million baht, equivalent to roughly 8.3 million yuan. That total includes 5.38 million baht in penalties for electricity violations and around 35 million baht in unpaid electricity bills.
The operation focused on mining equipment that was allegedly being powered outside normal billing channels. Based on the information reported, authorities are examining the use of illegal power access, meter manipulation, and the non-payment of electricity fees connected to the seized cryptocurrency mining machines.
