Token2049 has postponed its Dubai conference to April 21–22, 2027, citing regional tensions that are affecting safety, international travel, and logistics. The event had originally been scheduled for April 29–30 this year, but organizers said it will no longer go ahead as planned.
Organizers move the Dubai event to 2027
In a statement posted on X, Token2049 said the decision was made in consultation with partners and stakeholders. The organizers said ongoing uncertainty in the region had created issues around security, cross-border travel, and event logistics, leading them to reschedule the gathering for April 2027. They also said their priority remains making sure the global crypto industry can meet in person under safe conditions and at the scale associated with Token2049.
The announcement came one day after The Open Network said it would fully cancel its TON Gateway event in Dubai. That project said the conference would not proceed in its planned form, though the team hopes to introduce an alternative format later this year.
Passes can be moved to Singapore, refund policy still unclear
For people who already bought tickets to Token2049 Dubai, organizers said the passes will remain valid for the rescheduled 2027 event. Attendees can also transfer their tickets to the Singapore edition taking place later this year. What has not been clarified is whether buyers who do not want to attend either option will be entitled to refunds.
Ticket prices covered a wide range. Early bird access started at $699, standard passes went up to $1,499, and VIP packages with benefits such as exclusive lounges and priority access were listed at $5,999. At the time of the report, the conference ticketing page was still live on the website.
Travel plans already made may need to be changed directly
Token2049 also addressed attendees who had already arranged flights and hotels for Dubai. Organizers advised them to contact airlines and hotels directly where possible to modify their bookings. On its website, the team acknowledged that many attendees had already made plans and said it did not take that disruption lightly, even though event preparations had been progressing strongly.
Before the postponement, the Dubai conference had been expected to host several figures from the digital asset sector, including Shayne Coplan, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, and Jeremy Allaire. In the separate TON Gateway cancellation, attendees were told that refunds would be processed in about two weeks, and more details on a replacement format may be announced later this year.
