The TON community has approved a governance proposal to rename Toncoin as Gram. Results published through TON Vote show that 81.22% of participants supported the change, which will update the token ticker from TON to GRAM. The vote concluded on June 8, 2026, and Telegram appeared as the proposer through verified governance participation on the platform.

The voting process ran on TON Vote, a governance system developed by the Orbs Network team, from June 1 to June 8, 2026. It used a balance-weighted snapshot model, with voting power determined from a snapshot taken on May 31, 2026 across eligible wallets. Participants could choose For, Against, or Abstain, and the final tally gave the proposal a clear majority.

Name and ticker change only, no blockchain migration

The approved update affects branding, not the underlying network. The Open Network said its blockchain, contracts, wallet addresses, and overall network structure will remain unchanged. The announcement also states that there will be no migration, swap, bridge, or claim process, so holders do not need to move assets or complete any additional on-chain steps.

Balances will stay exactly the same, with 10 TON equal to 10 GRAM on the ledger after the rename. Gas fees will still be paid in the native asset, now shown as GRAM in user interfaces. Staking positions and validator operations are unchanged, while NFTs, Jettons, and DeFi positions are also unaffected by the ticker update.

Rollout starts June 15, with broader alignment expected by June 22

The rollout is scheduled to begin on June 15, 2026 at 12:00 UTC across wallets, exchanges, and blockchain explorers. Platforms will update listings, trading pairs, and interface labels from TON to GRAM. That means pairs such as TON/USDT will be relabeled as GRAM/USDT.

During a three-month transition period, some services may display the asset as Gram (prev. Toncoin). The article says ecosystem coordination is expected to bring fuller consistency across projects by June 22, 2026. Exchange-side work will also include API updates, historical labels, and notification templates, while help centers and FAQ pages will adopt the revised token naming structure.
