According to Techub News, citing Bitcoinist, Telegram founder Pavel Durov has officially announced that the native token of The Open Network (TON) will be renamed to "Gram." This restores the original token name that appeared in the project's earliest whitepaper, dating back to the initial conception of the TON blockchain. The renaming is widely seen as a return to the project's foundational vision.

This rebranding marks the fourth step of the "Make TON Great Again" (MTONGA) roadmap. The transition period is expected to last approximately three weeks, and a new official website has already been launched featuring the updated Gram token logo. Prior to this step, the roadmap's first three phases had already been completed, which included improving network transaction speed and reducing fees, repositioning Telegram as the dominant force within the TON ecosystem, and establishing itself as the network's largest validator. These foundational achievements provided the technical and ecological groundwork for the brand upgrade.

Durov described the initiative as "returning to the roots and opening a new chapter." The remaining three steps of the MTONGA roadmap have not yet been disclosed, leaving the community in anticipation of the full plan. This rebranding goes beyond a simple name change, signaling a strategic and brand realignment for the TON ecosystem.
