According to on-chain data as of June 20, 2025, the ten wealthiest Bitcoin addresses collectively hold approximately 1.10 million BTC, representing 5.55% of the current circulating supply of 19.88 million BTC. While the top ten in 2023 controlled 5.66% of supply, the latest snapshot reveals a slight redistribution among major custodians, reflecting both institutional inertia and strategic adjustments.
The Top 10 Rankings: From Binance Cold Wallet to BTCB Reserve
The leading position remains unchanged since 2023: Binance’s primary cold wallet holds 248,598 BTC — not a single satoshi has moved from this address since January 7, 2023. Robinhood’s cold wallet now occupies second place with 140,575 BTC, with its last outgoing transaction recorded on January 8, 2025. Bitfinex dropped to third, holding 130,010 BTC but shedding 9,000 BTC over the past 30 days. Binance’s second cold wallet comes fourth with 115,032 BTC, down 19,249 BTC in the same period. The Bitfinex hack recovery wallet ranks fifth with 94,643 BTC.
Sixth is the notorious Mt. Gox hacker wallet “1Feex,” containing 79,957 BTC. Stablecoin issuer Tether holds 78,647 BTC, placing seventh. The only anonymous address in the top ten sits eighth with 78,317 BTC. The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation’s confiscated wallet from the Silk Road hacker is ninth with 69,370 BTC. Rounding out the list, Binance’s BTCB reserve wallet holds 68,200 BTC in tenth place.
Silent Giants and Market Implications
These wallets exhibit extremely low activity: several have not seen outgoing transactions for months or even years. The slight drop in concentration (from 5.66% to 5.55%) may indicate modest redistribution through over-the-counter deals or exchange withdrawals. However, the overwhelming majority of these large wallets remain static, signaling strong long-term holding sentiment among major custodians. As the Bitcoin ecosystem matures, these “cold wallet kings” serve as a barometer of institutional custody dynamics and the shifting landscape of digital asset ownership.
