Trump to Deliver Historic Video Address at Digital Asset Summit
President Donald Trump is expected to deliver a speech via recording tomorrow at Blockworks' Digital Asset Summit (DAS) in New York City. This will mark the first time a sitting U.S. president has addressed a Bitcoin and crypto conference, highlighting the growing influence of digital assets in mainstream financial policy.
Trump previously engaged with the Bitcoin community in person at the world's largest Bitcoin conference in Nashville last summer while campaigning. His return as president further underscores continued government support for Bitcoin.
Strategic Bitcoin Reserve: From Executive Order to Legislative Action
Trump's upcoming DAS address comes just weeks after he signed an executive order establishing the U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, positioning BTC as a key asset for the country's financial future. Bo Hines, Executive Director on Digital Assets for President Trump, spoke earlier this week at DAS, reaffirming the administration's commitment to accumulating Bitcoin in budget-neutral ways. 'I think it's high time that our President started accumulating assets for the American people,' Hines said. He likened BTC accumulation to gold reserves: 'It's like asking a country how much gold do you want – as much as we can get.'
Key Speakers at DAS: Saylor, BlackRock, Nasdaq
Joining the lineup is Strategy's Michael Saylor, who will deliver a keynote and engage in a fireside chat with Bitcoin historian Pete Rizzo. Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart will host a panel with BlackRock's Head of Digital Assets Robbie Mitchnick and Nasdaq's Head of U.S. Equities & Exchange-Traded Products Giang Bui, discussing Bitcoin ETFs and institutional adoption.
Legislative Progress: 1 Million BTC Acquisition Plan
The executive order has spurred legislative proposals. Senator Cynthia Lummis and Congressman Nick Begich have each proposed plans for the U.S. to acquire 1 million BTC over five years. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer stated today at DAS that he believes this legislation will be enacted 'before this Congress is done,' signaling bipartisan support for the strategic reserve.
