U.S. President Donald Trump said he is watching the Binance hack and that authorities are investigating whether North Korea was responsible. Asked directly if the attack was carried out by Pyongyang, Trump said, 「We don’t know」 and added, 「We are investigating this.」 He also said Binance had told him the situation was under control. His comments come after blockchain analytics firms including Chainalysis and TRM Labs attributed the roughly $6.3 billion attack to TraderTraitor, a hacking group linked to North Korea. The U.S. government, however, has not formally assigned blame at this stage. Trump’s remarks stop short of confirming that attribution and leave the official position unchanged for now.
