The UK Financial Conduct Authority said it has secured court approval to start bankruptcy proceedings against Arthur Temlett, who traded as Abacus Insurance Consultants. A Scottish sheriff approved the application on Aug. 27, 2026, and appointed Emma Porter as trustee in bankruptcy. She will assess Temlett’s financial position and distribute any recovered funds to creditors. Temlett is also awaiting trial on embezzlement charges brought after an investigation by Police Scotland. The FCA had already moved against him on Jan. 21, 2025, barring him from carrying out any regulated activities, including insurance broking, over concerns that insurance premiums may not have been passed on to insurers. The case combines insolvency action with an earlier regulatory ban and an ongoing criminal process.
