Upbit has designated Injective (INJ) as a trading caution item, according to an official announcement on Sept. 1, and suspended deposits and withdrawals for the token. The exchange said withdrawals will be the first service to reopen when normal operations resume. The warning comes a day after an Injective network disruption on Aug. 31, when block production stopped for about 3 hours and 42 minutes. Block height recovered from 181,027,006 to 181,027,007, with no rollback. QuickNode's status records showed a network-wide block stall on the Injective mainnet and that an emergency patch was deployed. A suspected attacker is said to have repeatedly exploited Injective's insurance fund and permissionless binary options market creation mechanism, carrying out 299 operations and eventually collecting about 1,979.8 ETH, worth around $4.88 million, into a single address. BlockBeats previously reported the outage and the suspected attack.

Upbit has listed Injective's INJ token as a "trading caution item," the exchange said on Sept. 1, and has suspended deposits and withdrawals for the asset. When services resume, withdrawals will be the only service reopened initially, the exchange notice said.

Network stall before the warning

BlockBeats previously reported that Injective stopped producing blocks for about 3 hours and 42 minutes on Aug. 31. Block height recovered from 181,027,006 to 181,027,007, with no rollback. QuickNode's status records showed a network-wide block stall on the Injective mainnet that day, and an emergency patch was deployed.

A suspected attacker repeatedly exploited Injective's insurance fund and its permissionless binary options market creation mechanism. The attacker executed 299 operations, and around 1,979.8 ETH, worth roughly $4.88 million, ended up in one address.
