U.S. President Donald Trump said on Aug. 4 that a new proposal presented to Iran was its "last chance," while saying he had previously called off a large-scale military strike to leave room for diplomacy. Trump said talks between the United States and Iran had already begun, with a first phase focused on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and a second phase involving Iran’s denuclearization. He added that the waterway could reopen as early as the next day, but warned the U.S. blockade would remain in place if no agreement was reached or if Iran did not "fully surrender." Iran’s Foreign Ministry rejected the claim that it was in talks with Washington, saying discussions with عمان were limited to temporary shipping lane arrangements to ensure safe vessel passage rather than a full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Against that backdrop, Bitget data showed Brent crude fell nearly 6% on Monday. U.S. equities extended the rebound seen last Thursday and Friday, according to BIT (bit.com), with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.3% to a record close, the S&P 500 rising 1.48%, and the Nasdaq gaining 2.1%. Big Tech, semiconductor names, and optical communications stocks all advanced, while storage shares were mixed.

BlockBeats reported on Aug. 4 that U.S. President Donald Trump said a new proposal sent to Iran was its “last chance.” Trump said he had previously canceled plans for a large-scale military strike on Iran to leave room for a diplomatic solution, and added that he was willing to give Tehran one more opportunity before taking further action, with clarity expected within one or two days.

Trump said U.S.-Iran talks had already begun. He described the first phase as discussions on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, with a second phase covering Iran’s denuclearization. He also said the strait could reopen as early as the next day, while warning that the U.S. blockade on Iran would continue if the two sides failed to reach an agreement or if Iran did not “fully surrender.”

Iran’s Foreign Ministry disputed that account, saying it was not in talks with the United States. According to the ministry, current discussions with Oman only concern temporary shipping lane arrangements to ensure the safe passage of vessels, rather than a full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
