Odaily reported that U.S. stock index futures were lower before the open. Dow futures fell 0.20%, S&P 500 futures lost 0.47%, and Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 1.27%.
Commodity prices moved in different directions. WTI crude futures rose 4.26% to $74.452 a barrel, while Brent crude futures gained 4.37% to $79.328 a barrel. Spot precious metals were weaker, with gold down 1.40% at $4,061.29 an ounce and silver down 2.52% at $58.33 an ounce.
European equities were little changed. The UK’s FTSE 100 fell 0.20%, France’s CAC 40 slipped 0.01%, and Germany’s DAX 30 added 0.08%.
Tech and chip updates
META said it will add $40 billion in investment to its Louisiana data center and expand the site’s computing capacity to 5 gigawatts.
Journalist Mark Gurman said Apple has completed tape-out for its M7 chip and is expected to release it in the first half of next year. He also said the company plans to launch the M7 Pro and M7 Max by the end of 2027, followed by the M7 Ultra in 2028. At the same time, the M8 is reportedly already under development and moving quickly toward TSMC’s 1.4-nanometer process.
Samsung Electronics is reportedly providing samples of its next AI PC processor, Gaia, to PC makers including HP and Lenovo. The chip is a neural processing unit, or NPU, and is expected to be manufactured on Samsung’s 4-nanometer-class process.
Intel said it will invest an additional 5 billion euros in its Ireland factory to upgrade existing wafer fabrication facilities and install advanced manufacturing equipment, expanding AI chip output.
Space and market movers
SpaceX is set to carry out Starship’s 13th test flight on Thursday. The main goal is the first deployment of 20 V3 satellites, while also collecting key data to support sea recovery of the rocket in the 14th test flight.
In premarket trading, U.S. memory stocks came under pressure. SK Hynix ADR fell more than 10%, SanDisk dropped more than 6%, and Micron lost more than 5%.
