US Treasury to Announce Maximum Amount for 10-20 Year Bond Buyback

The US Treasury will announce the maximum amount for its planned buyback of 10- to 20-year Treasury bonds on Wednesday at 11:00 AM ET (23:00 Beijing time). The actual purchased amount since May 2024 will be released on September 10. Previously, the Treasury said it would buy at least $4 billion per operation until November 4, up from $2 billion. The Treasury retains discretion to expand the scale.

The U.S. Treasury Department is set to announce on Wednesday at 11:00 AM Eastern Time (23:00 Beijing time) the maximum amount it plans to repurchase in 10- to 20-year Treasury bonds, according to ChainCatcher.

On September 10, the Treasury will also disclose the exact amount of bonds purchased since the buyback program started in May 2024. Earlier, the Treasury stated that before November 4, each repurchase operation from the market would involve at least $4 billion, double the previous $2 billion minimum. The Treasury retains the authority to expand the size of repurchases at its discretion.
