In a recent announcement, the VeChain Foundation confirmed that its Renaissance roadmap has entered the next phase, codenamed Interstellar. This follows the completion of the Galactica phase, which laid the groundwork with an EVM base upgrade, and the Hayabusa phase, which wrapped up consensus and tokenomics changes. The Interstellar phase is designed to enhance EVM compatibility between the VeChainThor blockchain and the Ethereum ecosystem, aiming to broaden capabilities for developers building on the network. As the first upgrade proposal under Interstellar, VIP-255 introduces a set of execution-layer improvements aligned with Ethereum's Cancun, Prague, and Osaka upgrades. These include transient storage support, the MCOPY opcode, and cryptographic support for BLS12-381 and secp256r1. The proposal will be voted on through the VeVote platform from 00:00 UTC on August 10, 2026 to 00:00 UTC on August 17, 2026. Participants include validators and holders of eligible StarGate NFTs. According to the foundation, the upgrade does not alter VET or VTHO tokenomics, and regular token holders are not required to take any action.
The VeChain Foundation has announced that its Renaissance roadmap is moving into the next phase, Interstellar. The prior Galactica phase delivered the baseline EVM upgrade, while Hayabusa completed the consensus and tokenomics transition.
Interstellar aims to deepen EVM compatibility between VeChainThor and the Ethereum ecosystem, giving developers more room to build. The first upgrade proposal in this phase, VIP-255, brings execution-layer improvements aligned with Ethereum's Cancun, Prague and Osaka releases — including transient storage, the MCOPY opcode, and support for BLS12-381 and secp256r1 cryptography.
Voting runs from 00:00 UTC on August 10, 2026 to 00:00 UTC on August 17, 2026 via the VeVote platform. Validators and eligible StarGate NFT holders can take part. The upgrade leaves VET and VTHO tokenomics untouched, so regular holders don't need to do anything.
