Vietnamese authorities have widened their investigation into alleged fraud tied to ONUS, with enforcement activity spanning Hanoi and nearby provinces under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Security. The inquiry is centered on how ONUS-linked tokens were issued, promoted, and traded. Investigators say the platform served as infrastructure for coordinated campaigns that created artificial trading conditions and manipulated digital asset prices.

VNDC, ONUS, and HNG are at the center of the case

Three tokens are now the main focus of the probe: VNDC, ONUS, and HNG. Authorities claim these assets were created and marketed through systematic, centralized methods that allowed suspects to influence price movements and fabricate signs of market demand. Individuals named in the review include people connected to ONUS management, among them Vuong Le Vinh Nhan and Tran Quang Chien, along with Ngo Thi Thao of HanaGold Jewelry JSC.

ONUS is a blockchain-based digital asset platform offering token products and decentralized finance services to users in Vietnam. The platform drew attention for its rapid growth and broad uptake of its native tokens. That trajectory has now placed ONUS at the center of a closely watched enforcement case in Vietnam’s digital asset market.

More than 140 people summoned as investigators collect records

Officials have summoned more than 140 individuals and gathered transaction documents viewed as critical to the case. Prosecutors are examining allegations of property theft carried out through digital means and the laundering of proceeds generated through structured online trading activity. Their position is that manipulated tokens were presented to the public as legitimate investment products, exposing weaknesses in the design of newer digital asset platforms.

Preliminary findings suggest substantial sums moved through the ONUS ecosystem, though authorities have not released a specific loss figure. Investigators are also looking at the sharp decline in the market capitalization of ONUS tokens compared with earlier periods, while checking whether reported trading activity matches verifiable market data.

Case draws attention as Vietnam tightens crypto oversight

The ONUS case has emerged while Vietnam remains one of the world’s leading markets for retail crypto adoption, according to Chainalysis. The investigation reflects stronger regulatory and law enforcement attention on abuse risks inside a fast-growing digital asset market, especially cases involving more complex fraud and financial misconduct.

The fallout has also reached Vemanti Group, which acknowledged links between members of its leadership team and individuals named in the ONUS investigation. The company said it has retained legal advisers to assess the implications for ONUS Pro and related operations as proceedings continue. Investigators, for their part, are still broadening the scope of the inquiry across the ONUS network and connected organizations.
