Ant International, Visa and Mastercard said they will work together on mutual recognition of KYA, or Know Your Agent, a framework described as identity verification for AI agents. The process is meant to establish who an agent is and whom it represents, then allow a payment network to decide whether that agent can be trusted. The three companies want to connect these verification systems so that an agent cleared in one system can carry recognizable identity and trust information into another payment network, avoiding the need to register and complete verification from scratch each time.

Ant International, Visa and Mastercard said they are working together to advance mutual recognition of KYA, short for Know Your Agent.

KYA is described as identity verification for AI agents. It is designed to confirm who an agent is and whom it represents, after which a payment network can decide whether to trust it.

The three companies want to make these verification systems interoperable. Under that approach, an agent that has completed verification in one system could have its identity and trust credentials recognized when it enters other payment networks, rather than registering and going through verification again with each one.
