WeChat has started to loosen restrictions on moving chat records across apps. Tests cited by ChainCatcher show that after updating the mobile app to version 8.0.78, users can select multiple chat records and use the "Forward to other apps" option to send them beyond Yuanbao and WorkBuddy. Through the "Choose apps on this phone" entry, the records can be handed directly to third-party apps such as ChatGPT, with a limit of up to 100 messages at a time. WeChat packages the selected content into a ZIP file that includes a TXT file of chat records organized by time, along with related attachments. A similar entry is also available on WeChat for desktop, and community developers have already built relay tools based on that access point to feed chat records into AI services including ChatGPT and Claude.
