A cryptocurrency whale moved 9,000 ETH worth $17.86 million to Bitfinex after holding for five years, realizing a profit of $14.37 million. The address originally withdrew 10,000 ETH at a cost of $4.63 million and previously routed 1,000 ETH through TornadoCash.

Onchain Lens monitoring shows that an anonymous crypto whale deposited 9,000 ETH into the major exchange Bitfinex in early June after holding the asset for a full five years. At the time of transfer, these ETH were worth approximately $17.86 million, yielding the whale a handsome $14.37 million profit on this move alone.

Tracing the address's history, it originally withdrew 10,000 ETH around 2021 (roughly five years ago) when the total value was just $4.63 million, implying an average cost near $463 per ETH. After the extended hold, the whale partly reduced the position earlier: 1,000 ETH were moved through the decentralized mixer TornadoCash, sold for $1.147 million, and those proceeds were deposited to Kraken. Now, with the remaining 9,000 ETH transferred to Bitfinex, the profit represents nearly three times the initial total investment.
