A whale tracked by HyperliquidNews has built a large leveraged short position in Bitcoin on Hyperliquid after depositing $2.441 million in USDC a week ago. After going through multiple partial closes, the trader now holds a short position equivalent to 1,625 BTC, with a notional value of $103.3 million. The account’s equity stands at $2.432 million, putting the position at more than 40x leverage. HyperliquidNews also said the whale increased the size of the position by using unrealized profit and loss to add to exposure. At the time of the update, the liquidation price was 1.12% above the current BTC market price. The figures point to an extremely tight margin buffer relative to the size of the short.
According to monitoring by HyperliquidNews, a whale deposited $2.441 million in USDC into Hyperliquid a week ago and then opened a Bitcoin short.
After multiple position reductions, the trader is now holding a short position of 1,625 BTC with a notional value of $103.3 million. The account equity is $2.432 million, and leverage is above 40x.
HyperliquidNews said the whale also used unrealized profit and loss to increase the size of the position. The liquidation price is currently 1.12% above the BTC spot price.
