A trader identified by TradingBeats, formerly Hyperinsight, is running a split macro bet ahead of the U.S. CPI release: rate-cut positions on Polymarket and a heavily leveraged short on the S&P 500 through Hyperliquid. The setup appears to leave room for different CPI outcomes, but the size mismatch is stark. On Polymarket, the trader known as "fafafa..." has kept buying rate-cut related shares since mid-June and still holds seven unresolved positions tied to scenarios including September and October cuts, as well as one to two total cuts this year. Those positions have a cumulative cost of about $1,545.9 and are currently worth roughly $670, leaving an unrealized loss near $875.9. Four earlier settled rate bets also ended in losses. The larger exposure sits on Hyperliquid under address 0xe8e, where the trader’s only open position is a 50x isolated short of 345.4 SP500 contracts valued at about $2.675 million. The entry was 7,615.7, the floating loss stood near $45,300, and the reported return was about -86%. Liquidation is at 7,824.1, around 77 points, or roughly 1%, from the current price. The stop-loss was set at 7,823, just 1.1 points below liquidation.

On Aug. 12, BlockBeats cited monitoring data from TradingBeats, formerly Hyperinsight, showing that a Polymarket trader identified as "fafafa..." has taken positions on both sides ahead of the CPI release: betting on Federal Reserve rate cuts this year on Polymarket while shorting the S&P on Hyperliquid at up to 50x leverage.

According to TradingBeats, the structure appears designed to leave room for different CPI outcomes. Even so, the "insurance" on the prediction market side is far too small to offset the risk on the derivatives side. The trader’s S&P short, worth about $2.675 million, is now less than 1% away from liquidation.

Seven unresolved Polymarket positions remain open

TradingBeats said the trader has been buying rate-cut related shares since mid-June. The account still holds seven unresolved positions covering scenarios such as a September cut, a November cut, and one to two total cuts this year. If CPI comes in soft and rate-cut expectations strengthen, those positions could theoretically benefit.

For now, that hedge is deep in the red. The cumulative amount committed to the positions is about $1,545.9, while the current value is roughly $670, leaving an unrealized loss of about $875.9. Four previously settled interest-rate prediction positions also all ended in losses, and the remaining seven are currently underwater.

The main bet is a 50x isolated short on Hyperliquid

The trader’s much larger position sits on Hyperliquid under address 0xe8e. TradingBeats data shows the address has only one open position: a 50x isolated short of 345.4 SP500 contracts, with position value of about $2.675 million. The average entry is 7,615.7, the floating loss is about $45,300, and the reported return is around -86%.

The liquidation price is 7,824.1, about 77 points, or around 1%, from the current price. The stop-loss is set at 7,823, only 1.1 points below the liquidation line.

Small prediction-market hedge does little against a large leveraged short

Based on the current position sizes, the roughly thousand-dollar "insurance" on Polymarket is unlikely to protect a $2.675 million S&P short running at 50x leverage and sitting only about 1% from liquidation.

BlockBeats also said TradingBeats, an on-chain perpetuals and address analysis tool, is now live and supports real-time Hyperliquid data, including address tracing and whale activity tracking.
