Pi Network’s PI token gained 2.2% on Monday to trade at $0.2165, recovering part of the losses seen on Sunday. The move leaves the token up roughly 70% from its lowest level this year, putting it among the stronger performers in the crypto market over that period.
Pi Day is drawing traders back into the market
The immediate catalyst is Pi Day, scheduled for Saturday this week. According to the source material, the Pi Network team has a long record of making major announcements on that date, and that history is feeding expectations ahead of the event. Traders often move early when a project has a fixed calendar trigger, and PI’s recent price action fits that pattern.
A second date matters as well: March 12. Pi Network is in the middle of a series of core upgrades, and the current phase is expected to conclude then. The stated goal is to improve the network, especially as developers plan to roll out decentralized exchange and automated market maker tools. That gives the market a concrete product-related milestone rather than a purely sentiment-driven narrative.
AI exposure and validator rewards add to short-term support
Pi Network is also tying part of its story to the AI sector. It invested in OpenMind last year, and on Friday the developers shared additional details about that partnership. Beyond the financial angle, the network said it hopes miners will be able to earn extra income by supplying resources to the company, with the same model potentially extended to other AI businesses.
Another item on the calendar is the validator rewards distribution, which is expected later this month. For market participants, that adds another near-term event tied to token activity and ecosystem participation.
Demand indicators have improved too. Daily trading volume has climbed to $38 million, well above the level seen a few months ago when it fell below $10 million. Volume alone does not settle the trend, but it does show that market participation has picked up.
Technical indicators point to $0.2935 as the next key level
On the daily chart, PI has staged a sharp rebound since hitting its all-time low of $0.1312 on February 12. The token has now moved above its 100-day Exponential Moving Average, a level many traders treat as confirmation that buyers have regained control.
PI is also trading above the Supertrend indicator, while the Percentage Price Oscillator and the Relative Strength Index continue to rise. Based on the technical view in the source material, bulls are now focused on $0.2935, the token’s high from October last year. That target sits about 35% above the current price.
