WuBlockchain, citing RootData, reported that 64 crypto venture financing deals were publicly disclosed in July 2026, up 4.9% from 61 in June but down 42.3% from 111 a year earlier. Total disclosed funding reached about $2.299 billion, rising 85.9% month over month from $1.237 billion in June while falling 62.3% from $6.096 billion in July 2025. Sector distribution showed DeFi accounting for 23.4% of projects, CeFi 17.2%, and AI 15.6%, with smaller shares for NFT/Game, L1/L2, RWA/DePIN, and Tool/Wallet. Among the largest rounds, Crypto.com secured a $400 million strategic investment from Citadel Securities at a $20 billion valuation, while tokenization platform Securitize completed a public listing through a merger with a Cantor-backed SPAC that raised about $400 million. Ionic Digital also raised $400 million in new capital at a $2 billion pre-money valuation. Other notable deals included Augustus at $180 million, Alpaca at $135 million, Prime Intellect at $130 million, Gauntlet at $125 million, EDX Markets at $76 million, Flex at $70 million, and Venice AI at $65 million.

By sector, CeFi accounted for about 17.2% of the month’s disclosed projects, DeFi 23.4%, NFT/Game 3.1%, L1/L2 4.7%, RWA/DePIN 9.4%, Tool/Wallet 9.4%, and AI 15.6%.

Total crypto VC funding in July reached about $2.299 billion, up 85.9% from $1.237 billion in June 2026 and down 62.3% from $6.096 billion in July 2025.

WuBlockchain noted that projects with undisclosed deal sizes were counted in the number of financings but excluded from the aggregate funding total. It also said not all financings are disclosed in the same month they occur, so the data may be revised later.

Top 10 funding rounds by disclosed size

Crypto exchange Crypto.com received a $400 million strategic investment from Citadel Securities at a $20 billion valuation. The company said the capital will be used to speed up its expansion across asset classes, including tokenized assets and derivatives, and to connect digital assets more closely with traditional markets.

Securitize, a tokenization platform backed by BlackRock, completed a public listing through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company under Cantor. The transaction raised about $400 million in total, and the company now trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SECZ. Securitize is seeking complementary businesses that can strengthen its service offering for institutional clients. It has already issued about $4.4 billion in tokenized assets.

Ionic Digital, a company shifting from bitcoin mining, raised $400 million in fresh capital at a $2 billion pre-money valuation. Attestor, Oaktree Capital, and Sachem Head co-led the round. The proceeds are set to convert the company’s bitcoin mining site in Texas into an AI and high-performance computing data center. Ionic Digital was listed on Nasdaq in July 2026 under the ticker IOND.

Augustus, described as an AI-native stablecoin clearing bank startup, raised $180 million at a post-money valuation of $1 billion. Tiger Global led the round, with Hummingbird and QED Investors among the participants. The capital is earmarked to build a federally chartered clearing bank for the AI and stablecoin era, linking traditional financial payment rails with stablecoin infrastructure.

Alpaca closed a new $135 million financing round led by Peak XV. The company said the money will support expansion of tokenized asset infrastructure and AI-native financial services. With the new round, Alpaca’s total funding has reached $435 million, including earlier debt financing from Payward, the parent company of Kraken, and BMO. Alpaca said it currently clears or custodies about 94% of U.S. tokenized assets and holds more than $1.5 billion worth of underlying equities on behalf of partners.

Decentralized AI protocol Prime Intellect raised $130 million in a Series A round that valued the company at $1 billion, making it a unicorn. Radical Ventures led the round, with participation from NVentures, Intel Capital, and Dell Technologies Capital. The company said it will use the funds to build an Open Superintelligence Stack covering compute, reinforcement learning, sandboxing, evaluation, and deployment infrastructure for AI agents.

Gauntlet, a DeFi risk management and asset allocation platform, raised $125 million in a round fully backed by Japan’s SBI Holdings. The company provides risk management, asset allocation, and risk assessment services for DeFi markets. It said the new capital will be used to expand its business footprint and technology. Gauntlet was founded by former Wall Street quantitative analyst Tarun Chitra. It initially focused on stress testing and risk analysis for DeFi protocols, and in recent years shifted toward vault curation, evaluating the risks of different DeFi yield vault strategies. Its clients now include Apollo, Coinbase, and Circle.

Cryptocurrency trading platform EDX Markets raised $76 million in a Series C round led by SBI Holdings. The company said the proceeds will go toward new products, international expansion, and stronger trading, clearing, and settlement capabilities for institutional digital assets.

Flex, a California-based stablecoin cross-border banking platform, raised $70 million in a B1 round led by Halo Fund. The company said the financing will support the expansion of Flex Global, its stablecoin-based cross-border commercial banking platform.

Privacy platform Venice AI raised $65 million in a Series A round at a $1 billion post-money valuation, also reaching unicorn status. Dragonfly led the round, with Coinbase Ventures and North Island Ventures among the investors. The company is positioned as a privacy-focused AI platform, and its equity-plus-token financing structure has drawn controversy.
