WuBlockchain on Nov. 2 published its daily crypto news selection, covering the laundering trail tied to stolen Binance funds, fresh ETH and BTC treasury purchases, a new security alert, and two criminal cases involving virtual currency settlements.

Elliptic says 44% of the stolen Binance funds have been frozen

Blockchain analytics firm Elliptic said in a report update dated Nov. 2 that laundering activity tied to the roughly $6.43 billion stolen from Binance has spread across 11 blockchains, about 12,000 wallets, and more than 40,000 transactions. The firm described the activity as highly automated.

According to the update, about $2.85 billion of the stolen assets has been frozen or seized, equal to 44% of the total. Another roughly $3.24 billion remains in addresses linked to the theft.

Elliptic said Tron has been the main route for moving the funds. The attacker split the assets across about 7,700 addresses and then used cross-chain bridges to move funds to Ethereum and other networks. Starting on Nov. 1, the attacker also used CoinJoin for the first time, processing about 28 BTC. Elliptic added that about $16 million in stolen funds was sent to addresses linked to proceeds from the earlier Bitget hack.
