Web3 AI network X-Agent has launched its online "X-Agent AI MCP Hackathon 2026: Build, Verify, MCPize, Monetize," opening the event to developers worldwide and to Web3 AI teams. The hackathon is designed to move projects beyond the demo stage by focusing on AI APIs and on-chain capabilities that can be called in real use, verified, and turned into sustainable revenue-generating tools. The event runs for nearly four weeks, including a five-day warm-up period and a 14-day build phase. Participants do not need to set up a complex MCP, or Model Context Protocol, framework on their own. Instead, they are asked to build core AI or crypto functions on top of APIs and submit source code. Projects that pass technical verification and security review will be standardized by X-Agent into MCP tools that fit agent architecture requirements. As a central incentive, selected winning projects may be recommended by X-Agent for listing on the OKX.AI Agent Marketplace. X-Agent said monetization can be handled through the A2MCP and x402 protocols, combined with the gas-free USDC settlement channel on OKX X Layer, allowing developers to receive pay-per-call revenue when other AI agents or users invoke their tools.

BlockBeats reported on Aug. 14 that Web3 AI ecosystem network X-Agent has officially launched the online "X-Agent AI MCP Hackathon 2026: Build, Verify, MCPize, Monetize," with participation open to developers worldwide and Web3 AI teams.

A nearly four-week event aimed at deployable tools

X-Agent said the hackathon is meant to push projects past the "demo only" stage and toward AI APIs or on-chain capabilities that can be used in practice, verified, and monetized on an ongoing basis.

The event runs for nearly four weeks, with a five-day warm-up period followed by a 14-day development and build phase. Participants are not required to set up a complex MCP, short for Model Context Protocol, framework by themselves. They only need to build core AI or crypto functions on top of APIs and submit their source code.

Projects that pass review can be packaged as MCP tools

According to the announced process, projects that pass technical verification and security review will be standardized and packaged by X-Agent into MCP tools that fit agent architecture requirements.

X-Agent presents that flow as a standardized route from an API to a commercial agent tool, with the goal of lowering the entry barrier for builders.

Winning teams may gain access to OKX.AI distribution and monetization

One of the main benefits attached to the hackathon is that selected winning projects can be recommended by X-Agent for listing on the OKX.AI Agent Marketplace.

X-Agent said monetization would work through the A2MCP and x402 protocols, together with the gas-free USDC settlement channel on OKX X Layer. Each time another AI agent or a user calls the tool, the developer can receive ongoing pay-per-call revenue share.

Four tracks are open, while security-audit projects are excluded

The competition includes four thematic tracks covering AI, Web3, and on-chain automation.

X-Agent also stated that, for ecosystem safety, projects related to smart contract auditing, security risk control, phishing detection, and Rug Pull detection will not be accepted in this event.
