X has rolled out an “Active Followers” metric inside its updated Account Analytics dashboard, letting users see how many followers were actually online in the past 24 hours. The interface now shows three figures side by side: total followers, Verified Followers, and Active Followers.
The update was announced by X product lead Nikita Bier. By separating headline follower count from actual recent activity, the platform is giving creators, brands, and partners a clearer way to judge whether an account’s reach is real or mostly cosmetic.
A separate metric for followers active in the last 24 hours
Active Followers does not measure accumulated followers. It tracks the number of followers who were actually online during the last 24-hour window. Displaying that figure alongside verified followers adds another layer of scrutiny for anyone evaluating an account’s audience quality.
That shift matters for creator deals and crypto marketing. Accounts that once relied on large follower totals now face a more visible test: how many of those followers are actually present and active. For buyers of traffic and sponsorships, the dashboard offers a faster way to compare surface scale with real attention.
Crypto projects and advertisers get a clearer screening tool
The feature is aimed at the gap between follower totals and genuine influence. Advertisers and commercial partners can use it to assess the practical value of an account more quickly. For crypto projects working with KOLs, the metric may help filter out inflated audiences and place more weight on active reach instead of raw follower count.
The source also notes that X has recently been carrying out a large bot cleanup. Since launching its bot purge in April, the platform has been blocking fake accounts at a rate of 208 accounts per minute. Publicly exposing active follower data fits closely with that broader cleanup effort.
