U.S. Senate Democrats have accused Elon Musk-owned social platform X of giving prediction market Polymarket preferential treatment in its ad reporting system. In a joint letter first reported by Semafor, Senators Catherine Cortez Masto, Adam Schiff, Jacky Rosen, and Richard Blumenthal said X generally lets users report ads for a range of reasons. They said that when users tried to report Polymarket ads through X’s standard interface, no reporting option was available. According to the letter, that issue did not appear with other ads, including ads from Kalshi. The senators said the apparent disparity raised questions about whether X was trying to give Polymarket an improper competitive advantage and, in turn, benefit the U.S. president and his family. The report also noted that Donald Trump Jr. has invested in Polymarket and serves as an adviser to the platform.
ChainCatcher reported that U.S. Senate Democrats have accused Elon Musk-owned social media platform X of giving prediction market Polymarket favorable treatment.
In a joint letter first reported by Semafor, Democratic Senators Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada, Adam Schiff of California, Jacky Rosen of Nevada, and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut wrote that X normally allows users to report ads for a variety of reasons.
The letter said that when users tried to report Polymarket ads through X’s standard interface, they were unable to select a reporting option. It added that the same issue did not apply to other ads, including ads from Kalshi.
The letter, which included screenshots, said the apparent special treatment raised questions about whether X was trying to give Polymarket an improper competitive advantage and, by doing so, benefit the U.S. president and his family.
The report also said that Donald Trump Jr., son of Donald Trump, has invested in Polymarket and serves as an adviser to the platform.
