Zcash has activated the Ironwood NU6.3 network upgrade on mainnet at block height 3,428,143, introducing a new shielded pool. The change is meant to strengthen network security and make ZEC’s circulating supply independently verifiable. After the upgrade, the original Orchard pool is restricted and can no longer accept new funds. Existing funds in Orchard must first exit through the turnstile process before moving into Ironwood, a protocol-level design intended to ensure that pool outflows do not exceed verifiable inflows. Zcash said Ironwood is built on a revised protocol that has undergone formal verification and an independent audit, with the aim of reducing risks similar to the previously disclosed declarative vulnerability tied to Orchard. Wallets that support Ironwood, including Zodl 3.8.0, have already provided a migration path, allowing users to move Orchard funds into the new pool without changing their addresses.
Zcash activated the Ironwood NU6.3 network upgrade on mainnet at block height 3,428,143, adding a new shielded pool.

According to the release summary, Ironwood is based on a revised protocol that has undergone formal verification and an independent audit. It is intended to guard against risks similar to the previously disclosed declarative vulnerability related to Orchard.
Wallets that support Ironwood, including Zodl 3.8.0, have already opened a migration path. Users can move funds from Orchard into the new pool without changing their addresses.
