Nvidia financing questions hit chip stocks as oil and rate fears pressure Wall Street

U.S. stocks pulled back from record levels on Monday as two pressures hit risk appetite at the same time: rising geopolitical tensions tied to the Strait of Hormuz and growing scrutiny of Nvidia’s role in a planned AI infrastructure financing platform. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.11%, the Nasdaq dropped 0.32%, and the S&P 500 slipped 0.06%, while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index lost nearly 3% and all 30 of its components finished lower. Energy markets moved sharply higher. Brent crude jumped more than 5% intraday and closed above $87, while WTI climbed back above $82. Gold rose past $4,400 an ounce, its highest since June 5, and bond yields also advanced, with the 10-year Treasury yield up about 6 basis points to 4.71%. Markets pushed the probability of a September rate hike back to roughly 54%. At the center of the equity sell-off was Nvidia. Reports said the company is working with Apollo, Blackstone, BlackRock GIP, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs, and KKR on a platform meant to mobilize more than $500 billion in third-party capital for AI chips, power, and data centers. Nvidia later said the figure refers to future third-party capital that could be raised, not committed revenue or a single fund. Even so, traders remained focused on whether these AI projects can generate enough cash flow to justify the capital being deployed.

Claude Code switches on auto by default as Upbit expands listings and AI model chatter grows

TechFlowPost’s latest roundup tracked a wide set of developments across AI, crypto, chips, big tech and macro markets. In AI, Claude Code has made its autonomous mode the default setting, shifting the tool from a coding assistant toward a system that can execute commands on its own. At the same time, SemiAnalysis was cited in community discussion claiming Google’s Gemini 3.5 Pro was quietly shelved internally before launch, while another rumored model, Hark Handoff, spread through social channels on unverified benchmark screenshots. Meta was also said to be preparing an open release of its 30B model Muse Glimmer, with 4-bit quantization allowing it to run on a single 24GB GPU. On the crypto side, Upbit listed six tokens including CYS, ICNT and XAN, opening BTC and USDT pairs and putting fresh focus on smaller-cap sectors such as DePIN, chain-wide operating systems and AI networks. Community debate also turned toward the value of on-chain AI agents, with one popular post arguing that many projects simply route AI output into smart contracts without creating new trust assumptions. Elsewhere, traders cut the perceived odds of a September Fed hike ahead of CPI data, a setup that Cointelegraph said could matter for Bitcoin and other risk assets.

ChainFeeds PRO reviews Ethereum multi-dimensional gas design, PoS security models, and oracle silence

ChainFeeds Research’s PRO issue #154 pulls together several research threads across Bitcoin and Ethereum. The report highlights Fei Wu’s work on Ethereum’s post-Glamsterdam fee market, where EIP-8037 and EIP-7999 would shift gas pricing from a single-meter model to separate pricing for execution, data, and state creation. Using historical gas changes, the study models demand curves for each resource and finds different elasticities: execution is least sensitive to price, data sits in the middle, and state creation is the most sensitive. Under higher block capacity, state creation could become the new fee bottleneck. On Bitcoin, the report covers josh’s HTLC design aimed at removing reliance on mempool-based preimage monitoring and the free-relay assumption, as well as a staletip P2P message proposed by Ram and w0xlt to improve visibility into stale blocks. On Ethereum research, Hudu Yusuf questions whether stake weight truly reflects effective consensus weight and whether continuous oracle output is always safer than silence, proposing DW-BFT and a structured-silence model. The issue also includes Sidistr’s Arcanum, a compiler-layer approach for keeping source code hidden through a TEE-to-ZK roadmap, and a paper from Old Dominion University on what drives contentious Bitcoin soft forks toward orderly upgrades or lasting chain splits.

Stocks Hit New Highs as AI and Chip Shares Surge While Oil Drops on Hormuz Deal Hopes

U.S. stocks rallied sharply Monday as strong corporate earnings and signs of easing tension around the Strait of Hormuz lifted risk appetite across markets. The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 1.71% to close above 54,000 for the first time, while the S&P 500 rose 1.79% and the Nasdaq Composite gained 2.59%, both setting fresh records. Oil prices extended losses after Axios reported that the U.S., Iran and Oman were nearing a temporary agreement aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz, restoring a ceasefire and creating room for follow-up nuclear talks. WTI crude fell 5.58%, and Brent dropped below $80. The move in energy also fed into rates. The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield slipped about 6 basis points to around 4.6%, and CME FedWatch showed the probability of a 25-basis-point rate hike in September falling to 57.1% from 67.2% a day earlier. Investors are now looking to Friday’s nonfarm payrolls report for the next major macro signal. AI remained the strongest equity theme, but this time the rally spread well beyond chipmakers. Semiconductor, memory, optical communications, AI software, and data center infrastructure names all advanced. Palantir, ARM, Intel, Sandisk, Micron, AMD, Nvidia, and Bitdeer were among the names in focus, while markets also turned to upcoming earnings, SpaceX lockup expirations, and storage-sector results later this week.
