Stellar to Launch Protocol 28 'Adapter' Upgrade for Smart Contract Developers

Stellar Development Foundation has announced the upcoming Protocol 28 network upgrade, codenamed Adapter, with a focus on improving the smart contract development experience. The upgrade is expected to deliver faster consensus, support atomic upgrades for smart contract fleets, and improve data migration compatibility. According to a Techub News report, Protocol 28 includes three specific changes: CAP-83, CAP-85, and CAP-86. CAP-83 aims to speed up consensus by allowing validators to vote ahead of time. CAP-85 supports atomic upgrades for fleets of contracts. CAP-86 improves compatibility for data structure migration. The Stellar Development Foundation said the full performance benefits will be phased in after the upgrade goes live on mainnet. Techub News reported the announcement, though no specific mainnet launch date was provided. The upgrade targets the smart contract development experience as its main focus, with the foundation laying out the three CAP improvements as the core of this release. In total, the Protocol 28 package is built around these three CAP proposals.
