Tectonic Attack Report: $120M Drained via Price Manipulation, $9.19M Unrecovered

Tectonic has released a report on the August 30 attack, revealing that the attacker inflated TONIC's price by approximately 195x and used cyclic borrowing to extract about $120 million from nine lending markets. After Cronos paused the network and restored state, most assets returned to pre-attack levels, but roughly $9.19 million had been cross-chain transferred and remains unrecovered. The team plans to phase out low-liquidity collateral and set borrowing caps per market.

Rocket L1 Blockchain Suffers $287K Attack, Pauses All Deposits and Withdrawals

Rocket, a Layer 1 blockchain, disclosed a September 5 on-chain attack that resulted in approximately $287,000 in losses. The attacker exploited a dormant perpetual market by posting artificially inflated price orders through a one-time account and trading against themselves, generating fake profits while bankrupting that account. The funds were then withdrawn via the Bridge. All deposits, withdrawals, and trading have been suspended. The team is cooperating with security firms, law enforcement, exchanges, bridges, and stablecoin issuers to trace and freeze the stolen assets. A recovery plan prioritizing small-account refunds is being developed, with details to be announced soon.

X Users Hit by Password Reset Email Bombardment; No Data Breach Found, Says Official

On September 1, a large number of X (formerly Twitter) users were bombarded with unsolicited password reset emails, with some receiving 8 emails in 3 minutes. X engineer Mridul Singhai said attackers are abusing public usernames to submit account recovery forms, but the system has not been compromised. The motive may be linked to the recent launch of X Money payment features. Users are advised to enable password reset protection and two-factor authentication.

Ravencoin Plunges to All-Time Low After Consensus Vulnerability Exploit

Ravencoin's native token has fallen to an all-time low of $0.002754 after a consensus vulnerability was exploited, according to Cointelegraph. The price is down roughly 22% from its 24-hour high. The vulnerability caused weak nodes to accept invalid blocks, with the first known exploit occurring at block height 4,487,776. Mining pools 2Miners and RavenMiner, which control a majority of the network's hashrate, are building a competing chain that excludes the affected branch. If that chain becomes dominant, the network could undergo a reorganization of about three days, potentially reverting transactions confirmed after block 4,487,775. Ravencoin has advised exchanges to suspend deposits and withdrawals until the chain stabilizes. Upbit and Bitget have already halted RVN transfers.
