BLUECHIP jumps on Base after Cobie-linked narrative resurfaces

According to data from GMGN, the Base meme token BLUECHIP briefly pushed its market capitalization above $30 million and rose more than 60% from its intraday low before later trading at $22 million. ChainCatcher said the move followed attention tied to Cobie’s official X account. The token’s narrative traces back to Cobie’s early trading history, with community members recently resurfacing posts from June 2014 in which he discussed a token called BlueChip. Those posts referenced new price highs, order book changes, and his decision to keep holding. The renewed circulation of those older posts has fed a “2014 meme revival” narrative around the token. The report also noted that meme coin prices can swing sharply and said investors should be mindful of the risks.

California moves toward plug-in balcony solar as Taiwan still faces grid-connection hurdles

California’s legislature has passed a bipartisan bill that would let residents install small plug-in solar systems on apartment balconies or in backyards, according to Bloomberg. If signed by Governor Gavin Newsom before the deadline, the measure would allow systems under 1.2 kilowatts to plug directly into standard household outlets for self-consumption, cutting out the lengthy utility interconnection review that usually applies to rooftop solar. The bill does not open the door to full net export. Excess electricity cannot be sold back to the grid, and the permitting exemption comes with a sunset clause that currently runs through Jan. 1, 2030, a compromise after opposition from Pacific Gas and Electric, or PG&E, on grid-safety grounds. Landlords and homeowners associations would still retain authority to restrict installations over building appearance or falling-object concerns. The report also explains the underlying technology. Balcony solar systems use microinverters to convert DC from panels into grid-synchronized AC, while anti-islanding protection shuts output off within milliseconds if grid power disappears. In Taiwan, by contrast, the mainstream legal setup remains off-grid storage systems using portable batteries such as EcoFlow and BLUETTI. Direct plug-in systems are still treated as unapproved grid connections under current rules.
