Pump.fun rolls out BOOST launch standard, says it could add about 20% more liquidity to newly migrated tokens

Pump.fun has introduced BOOST, a new standard launch mechanism that will apply to every new token on the platform. The company said more than $100 million in liquidity becomes dead liquidity each year when tokens move from the initial bonding curve into liquidity pools, and argued that BOOST is designed to recycle future liquidity back into each bonded token. Co-founder Alon Cohen said the update should add roughly 20% more liquidity to each newly migrated token without changing the trading experience on either the bonding curve or the liquidity pool side. He also said the mechanism could inject hundreds of millions of dollars into the ecosystem over time. Still, those figures were presented as company forecasts rather than independently verified results. Pump.fun did not publish a supporting dataset alongside the announcement, and the real liquidity impact will depend on how many tokens are bonded and migrated under the new default mechanism. The platform had previously launched USDC-paired liquidity pools.

Pump.fun makes BOOST the default launch mode, rerouting 20% of migration funds into five minutes of TWAP buy-and-burn

Pump.fun on July 21 rolled out BOOST mode and made it the default launch mechanism for new tokens. Under the new setup, around 20% of the funds that would previously have been locked into LP during a token’s graduation from the bonding curve are withheld and used to buy the token on the secondary market over the first five minutes via a time-weighted average price, or TWAP, strategy. The purchased tokens are then burned. According to Pump.fun’s explanation, that portion of liquidity historically became “dead liquidity” once it was locked in LP, even if all holders later sold out. The platform estimates this design has led to more than $100 million in permanently stranded liquidity every year. Based on fixed migration rules cited in the article, the withheld amount is 17.6 SOL for SOL pairs and about $2,516 for USDC pairs. The change does not alter the bonding curve trading experience or the graduation threshold, and Pump.fun said it does not inject any outside liquidity. The BOOST setting applies automatically to Pump.fun tokens migrating after 22:23 Beijing time on July 21. Tokens that migrated earlier, as well as tokens launched through Mayhem, the AI Agent lab mode, are excluded. The article also notes debate around whether the added short-term buy pressure improves post-graduation trading or simply shifts risk into a sharper selloff after the five-minute window ends.

Pump.fun rolls out BOOST as default launch mode for new tokens

Pump.fun has introduced a new BOOST mode and will make it the default launch setting for all newly issued Pump.fun tokens going forward. The feature is designed to address the long-running problem of “dead liquidity” during token migrations by channeling permanently locked liquidity back into the market through an automatic buyback-and-burn process. According to Pump.fun, more than $100 million in liquidity has been permanently lost each year during migrations, leaving capital unable to support ongoing market liquidity. Historically, around 20% of liquidity for each migrated token has remained trapped in liquidity pools even after traders fully exited their positions. Under BOOST, those stranded funds will be redeployed within five minutes after migration. The system will carry out buybacks using a time-weighted average price, or TWAP, and automatically burn the purchased tokens. Pump.fun said BOOST will inject 17.6 SOL for SOL pairs and $2,516 for USDC pairs. The feature does not require manual activation and will automatically apply to all new Pump.fun tokens that complete migration after 10:23 a.m. Eastern Time on July 21. Tokens migrated earlier, as well as tokens launched through Mayhem, are excluded.
