Japan’s Metaplanet Buys 2,205 More Bitcoin, Raising Holdings to 15,555 BTC
Metaplanet Inc. has announced another major Bitcoin purchase, adding 2,205 BTC and bringing its total holdings to 15,555 BTC. The latest acquisition was valued at JPY 34.487 billion, with an average purchase price of JPY 15.64 million per Bitcoin. On a cumulative basis, the company has now spent JPY 225.818 billion, with an average acquisition cost of JPY 14.52 million per coin. The move forms part of Metaplanet’s newly launched “555 Million Plan,” which targets ownership of 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027—equivalent to 1% of Bitcoin’s total supply—replacing the earlier “21 Million Plan” that had aimed for 21,000 BTC by 2026. The company also reported that its proprietary KPI, BTC Yield, rose 15.1% quarter-to-date, generating a BTC Gain of 2,017 and a BTC JPY Gain of JPY 31.78 billion. In addition, Metaplanet disclosed equity and debt-related updates, including the issuance of 8.1 million new shares between July 1 and July 4, 2025, and the partial early redemption of JPY 6 billion from a JPY 30 billion bond issued to EVO FUND. It also provided detailed June capital action results tied to the exercise of its 20th Series Stock Acquisition Rights.
