Bitcoin Nears $80,000 as Fed Rate-Hike Bets Surge and Macro Pricing Turns

Bitcoin is running into a critical macro test as traders sharply reprice the Federal Reserve’s path. After gaining about 20% over the past month, the cryptocurrency is now facing a market that has moved away from rate-cut expectations and toward the possibility of another hike. CME’s FedWatch tool shows traders assigning nearly a 90% chance of a rate increase next week, shifting the focus for crypto desks from whether easing is coming to how much tightening may be left and how hawkish the Fed’s updated projections might look. The repricing has been reinforced by several signals in the source report. Stanley Druckenmiller, described as closely connected to current Fed Chair Kevin Warsh, was cited by the Financial Times as saying arguments that policy is still restrictive are “absurd.” At the same time, inflation has not cooled as clearly as markets had hoped, while oil has climbed back above $100 a barrel. A Bitget Wallet research analyst said August CPI did not deliver a clear dovish message and strengthened the case for a 25-basis-point hike on Sept. 16. Analysts are also watching technical levels closely. The report highlighted support around $75,000 to $76,000, with $80,000 as the first major upside test. Bitbank analyst Yuya Hasegawa said a break below $75,500 could open the way toward $70,000 if the Fed hikes or if the Summary of Economic Projections shows more officials backing another increase this year.

U.S. regulators issue proposed guidance on third-party risk management for banks

U.S. banking regulators on Friday released proposed guidance on third-party risk management for banks and credit unions. The proposal was issued by the Federal Reserve, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the National Credit Union Administration. The agencies said the draft is meant to help institutions better tailor their third-party risk management practices to the risk profile of each outside relationship. In a memo, Federal Reserve staff said the proposal comes as banks increasingly outsource certain functions and rely on third-party arrangements to improve efficiency and reduce costs. The proposal is nonbinding and will be open for public comment, with the agencies framing supervision around a principles-based approach. Federal Reserve Governor Barr opposed the proposal, citing concerns about the standard for what counts as a 「material financial risk」.

Oracle cloud growth, Adobe AI revenue gains, and fresh financing moves in AI infrastructure

WuBlockchain’s WhiteLine Daily focused on four AI-related developments spanning cloud infrastructure, software monetization, supply-chain financing, and inference chip design. Oracle reported that cloud infrastructure revenue rose 121% year over year to $7.4 billion, while Reuters said the company added more than $30 billion in AI cloud contracts during the quarter. Most of those new contracts do not require major additional capital spending, allowing Oracle to keep its annual capex target in place, even as free cash flow stayed negative at $5.4 billion. Adobe posted quarterly revenue of $6.76 billion, above the $6.7 billion market expectation, and Barron’s reported that annual recurring revenue from its AI-first products grew by more than 150% year over year. Even so, Adobe’s guidance for the next quarter, at $6.8 billion to $6.85 billion, came in with a midpoint slightly below the $6.85 billion expected by the market, and the stock fell about 2% in after-hours trading. The report also highlighted a Wall Street Journal story saying the U.S. Department of Defense is discussing a roughly $5 billion loan for AI cloud compute company Fluidstack, and d-Matrix’s announcement that it will connect its next-generation Raptor chip to Nvidia’s NVLink Fusion and MGX platform, with first products expected in the fourth quarter of 2027.

Wang Chun challenges the Zcash rally as privacy narrative collides with old questions

Zcash surged back into the spotlight after ZEC climbed above $1,000 intraday on Sept. 4, 2026 and reached about $1,256.92 on Sept. 7, before closing that day around $1,146.61. The move came with heavy short liquidations, with CoinDesk reporting roughly $36.6 million in leveraged positions wiped out over 24 hours, including about $34.5 million in shorts. At the same time, a group of well-known backers — including Barry Silbert, the Winklevoss twins, Arthur Hayes, Multicoin Capital and Naval Ravikant — had spent the past year publicly arguing that financial privacy is becoming more valuable as public ledgers and AI-driven data analysis expand. That bullish case now faces a direct challenge from F2Pool co-founder Wang Chun, who said on Sept. 8 that Zcash’s rise was driven mainly by "narrative buying" rather than usage that matches its market standing. His criticism focused on Zcash’s early token distribution, developer funding structure, governance conflict and the Orchard vulnerability. The dispute is not simply about price. It is about whether privacy demand can become durable usage, and whether supply integrity and governance are strong enough to support a long-term monetary premium.
