Stellar to Launch Protocol 28 'Adapter' Upgrade for Smart Contract Developers

Stellar Development Foundation has announced the upcoming Protocol 28 network upgrade, codenamed Adapter, with a focus on improving the smart contract development experience. The upgrade is expected to deliver faster consensus, support atomic upgrades for smart contract fleets, and improve data migration compatibility. According to a Techub News report, Protocol 28 includes three specific changes: CAP-83, CAP-85, and CAP-86. CAP-83 aims to speed up consensus by allowing validators to vote ahead of time. CAP-85 supports atomic upgrades for fleets of contracts. CAP-86 improves compatibility for data structure migration. The Stellar Development Foundation said the full performance benefits will be phased in after the upgrade goes live on mainnet.
