Billionaire Jeremy Grantham: Bitcoin Won't 'Go to Zero' But Will Fade Into Obscurity

Billionaire investor and GMO co-founder Jeremy Grantham has renewed his criticism of Bitcoin, calling it a 'useless speculative' asset with no intrinsic value. He predicts Bitcoin will gradually become irrelevant over the next several years or even decades, describing its decline as a 'quiet death' rather than a sudden crash. Grantham argues Bitcoin fails as a store of value, citing its 52% pullback from October 2026 highs even amid a strong economy, while gold has held up relatively well. He also dismissed Bitcoin's real-world utility, claiming it is only used for illegal fund transfers. Currently trading around $60,000, Bitcoin has historically suffered at least 70% drawdowns in each bear cycle, and many investors expect the current weakness to persist for months.
