Abstract faces shutdown speculation after account changes, staff exits and reported fund outflows

Abstract, the consumer-focused Ethereum Layer 2 network under Igloo Inc., has come under fresh scrutiny after a string of developments triggered concern across its community. According to BlockBeats, Pudgy Penguins founder Luca Netz removed the Abstract label from his X account ID on Sept. 30, while community reports claimed that wallets linked to core developer Cygaar were moving funds off the Abstract chain. Cygaar’s X account has also been inactive since June 2026. The concerns come after two senior team members — ecosystem lead Mason and product lead 0xBeans — left the project in August. At the same time, Abstract’s official account has entered what the report described as a semi-dormant state. Taken together, those signs have fueled discussion in the community over whether the network could be nearing a shutdown. As of publication, no official response had been issued to address those concerns.
