WuBlockchain daily roundup: US jobless claims, Fed hold, CZ remarks and two crypto fraud cases

WuBlockchain’s daily crypto news selection brought together five separate developments spanning US macro data, monetary policy, industry commentary and fraud enforcement. In the US, initial jobless claims for the week ending July 25 came in at 197,000, below the 200,000 consensus estimate, while the prior reading was revised to 188,000 from 187,000. June core PCE inflation was reported at 3.3% year over year, matching expectations and down from 3.4% previously. The Federal Reserve left the federal funds target range unchanged at 3.50% to 3.75% in a 9-3 vote. Its statement said economic activity was still expanding at a solid pace despite elevated uncertainty tied in part to the Middle East conflict. Productivity and capital spending remained strong, employment growth was broadly in line with labor force growth, and inflation was still above the 2% target. Beth Hammack, Neel Kashkari and Lorie Logan dissented in favor of a 25-basis-point hike. CZ, responding to debate around Giggle Academy’s sale of donated tokens, said he had not communicated with the team about the recent sales. He added that the project typically converts most donated tokens into BNB at month-end and said he may buy or sell one or two meme coins in the coming weeks to test new features. The roundup also covered a fake Flare Network staking phishing case in Seoul and a bitcoin extortion warning issued by China Business Journal.
