Samsung Electronics used its Galaxy Unpacked event in London to show a new pair of Galaxy AI smart glasses developed with Google, adding another product to the race around AI-powered wearables. The device runs on Android XR, integrates Google Gemini, and comes in frames created with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Samsung said the first version does not include a display, opting instead for a lighter design centered on voice, gestures, cameras, and microphones. The company also put heavy emphasis on privacy. According to the product details cited by ABMedia, the glasses include a recording indicator LED, stop recording if that light is blocked, and automatically halt recording when the glasses are taken off and placed down. Samsung also said audio, screen-sharing, and image data generated through the glasses will not be used to train its AI models. Samsung executive vice president Jaein Choi said the company has filed more than 200 patents related to smart glasses and indicated that a version with a built-in display could follow once quality targets are met. ABMedia also cited Moore Securities analyst Lin Han-wei, who said Taiwan supply-chain names could benefit from the theme in the second half of the year, specifically naming Largan Precision and GIS-KY.
