Payward opens proxy voting instructions for eligible xStocks holders

Payward, the parent company of Kraken, said it is working with Broadridge to let eligible xStocks holders submit proxy voting instructions tied to the underlying stocks. The move changes the product’s earlier structure, under which xStocks did not carry voting rights. Issued by Backed, xStocks are available only to qualified investors outside the United States and the United Kingdom. The range of supported assets has already been extended to Hong Kong-listed stocks through a partnership with fintech infrastructure provider GTN, and the company said future expansion is planned for the UK, Europe, South Korea and other markets. Broadridge will provide digital asset infrastructure for the product, including proxy voting, post-trade services, wallets and custody.

WuBlockchain Weekly: Trump Backs CLARITY Ethics Terms, BitMEX Sets Sept. 23 Shutdown

WuBlockchain’s weekly roundup put U.S. crypto legislation and exchange restructuring at the center of the market conversation. Donald Trump agreed to ethics provisions in the CLARITY Act, removing what the report described as the last major obstacle before the bill can move toward a Senate vote. The draft language would restrict the president, vice president, members of Congress and other federal officials from profiting from digital assets while in office. Senate timing remains tight, with a vote needed before the first week of August if lawmakers want to keep the current path alive. Elsewhere, London Stock Exchange Group is preparing a standalone overnight trading venue for 2027, while Argentina is considering rules that would let mutual funds hold bitcoin and other crypto assets. In Brazil, a farm completed a registered tokenized livestock collateral transaction using 10 dairy cows. Strategy also launched the Bitcoin Security Consortium with a group of founding members that includes BlackRock, Coinbase and Blockstream, committing $15 million over three years. On the market structure side, Kraken parent Payward is working to expand xStocks beyond current listings, and BitMEX said it will shut down on Sept. 23 after halting new user registrations. The weekly list also cited CryptoRank data showing 17 major crypto projects or companies have shut down or gone bankrupt since 2026 began, a surge in tokenized RWA perpetuals to roughly $470 billion in June, and Ethereum’s validator exit queue falling to zero while about 2.48 million ETH wait to enter staking.

RWA Weekly: South Korea Speeds Stablecoin Rules as HKDAP May Launch This Month

Real-world asset markets expanded again in the latest weekly review, with on-chain RWA capitalization rising to $36.82 billion as of July 24, 2026, according to RWA.xyz, while the number of holders climbed to 1.2541 million after a monthly net increase of more than 300,000. Stablecoins showed a more mixed picture: total market capitalization edged up to $298.75 billion, but monthly transfer volume fell 24.95% to $5.19 trillion, even as total holders increased to 276 million. On the policy front, the U.K. is preparing for a first blockchain-based gilt issuance in 2027, though progress still hinges on compliant GBP stablecoin infrastructure. South Korea, meanwhile, published a won internationalization roadmap, advanced second-stage digital asset legislation tied to stablecoins, and expanded CBDC-related payment infrastructure into private-sector use cases. At the company and product level, HSBC joined the U.K.’s Digital Securities Sandbox, BNY Mellon outlined plans for round-the-clock U.S. Treasury settlement by 2027, Mubadala Capital partnered with Coinbase on a tokenized private equity fund, and Ondo said its regulated broker-dealer subsidiary Oasis Pro Markets had received authorization to offer tokenized securities services in the U.S. In Hong Kong, local media reported that Anchorpoint, backed by Standard Chartered (Hong Kong), could announce its HKD-pegged stablecoin HKDAP as early as the end of this month.

Crypto and tech updates on July 23: Binance expands bStocks collateral, ZIL and bridge exploits draw scrutiny

A broad set of market, security, regulatory, and infrastructure developments emerged between late July 22 and early July 23. Binance said it will add 10 tokenized bStocks securities as eligible collateral and open margin trading for their related pairs, while Upbit designated Zilliqa’s ZIL as a closely watched asset and suspended deposits and withdrawals after security concerns tied to its wallet or distributed ledger. Zilliqa then disclosed a serious Ledger app nonce flaw affecting native, non-EVM ZIL transactions, saying private keys could be recovered from around five affected signatures. Security incidents also hit B² Network and an AFX-operated bridge in the Arbitrum ecosystem. Elsewhere, Payward said xStocks is expanding tokenized equities beyond U.S. names, Sui launched the Hashi Bitcoin interoperability testnet, BNY Mellon outlined plans for round-the-clock Treasury settlement, and several firms including OpenAI, Alphabet, Revolut, Tesla, and Samsung disclosed major product, spending, or financial updates. The flow also included U.S. legislative movement on the Clarity bill, SEC commentary on on-chain vaults and lending strategies, whale ETH purchases, and fresh market views from Grayscale and Bitwise.

Polymarket to challenge French block as U.S. CLARITY bill enters final push

Polymarket said it will challenge France’s decision to block access to its prediction market platform, according to Reuters, setting up a legal fight with the country’s gambling regulator. The French National Gambling Authority, or ANJ, blocked the site last week, arguing that the platform could expose users to significant gambling losses and that its markets were vulnerable to manipulation. Polymarket said it was disappointed and would seek relief through French legal channels. The development came alongside a broader set of crypto and tech updates. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said lawmakers are in the “final sprint” on the CLARITY bill and urged Congress to pass it before recess, according to Cointelegraph. Separately, The Block reported that Movement Labs, the former core developer behind the Movement blockchain, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Delaware on July 15, listing liabilities of as much as $10 million and naming co-founder Rushikesh “Rushi” Manche as its largest unsecured creditor with claims exceeding $1.6 million. Other developments included Google’s release of new Gemini Flash models, a response from Xiaohongshu denying IPO rumors, layoffs in Amazon’s AGI unit, fresh on-chain tracking of funds stolen from Summer Fi, an OpenAI security incident disclosed during internal model testing, and Kraken parent Payward’s plan to expand xStocks into additional overseas equity markets.

Balance Coin crashes over 99% in oracle exploit as Zilliqa halts native transfers over Ledger flaw

WuBlockchain’s daily crypto news roundup highlighted several developments across the market, led by a sharp collapse in algorithmic stablecoin Balance Coin after an oracle pricing flaw was exploited. The token fell from nearly $1 to about $0.0014, wiping out almost all of its roughly $3.5 million nominal market value. SlowMist said the attacker manipulated the protocol oracle by feeding in an abnormally low Bitcoin price, which caused the lending contract to liquidate vaults that should not have been liquidated and generated about $912,000 in profit in a single transaction, with the funds sourced from Balance Protocol governance entity 42DAO. Elsewhere, trading activity at South Korea’s five largest crypto exchanges fell about 89% year over year, while Kraken parent Payward is working with GTN to expand xStocks to include Hong Kong-listed shares, followed by UK, European and South Korean stocks pending regulatory approval. Movement has filed for bankruptcy, and Zilliqa has suspended native transactions after disclosing a critical Ledger app nonce-generation bug that could allow private keys to be recovered from public signatures. Upbit later placed ZIL under a trading warning designation and suspended deposits and withdrawals.

Payward expands xStocks beyond U.S. equities, targets Hong Kong, UK and South Korea

Payward, Kraken’s parent company, said it is expanding its tokenized stock platform xStocks beyond the U.S. market, with plans to add Hong Kong, UK, South Korean and other international equities. The company said it is working with investment infrastructure provider GTN to bring Hong Kong-listed stocks onto the platform, while support for the UK, Europe and South Korea will come after regulatory approval. Payward added that the partnership could also support future expansion into other tokenized asset classes. Global Head of Consumer Mark Greenberg said major non-U.S. markets remain an important category of assets that have yet to be tokenized, and that the company wants to bring global capital markets on-chain through xStocks over time. The platform has so far focused on tokenized versions of U.S. stocks and ETFs, including Nvidia, Apple and Tesla. Payward said xStocks now supports more than 500 tokenized securities, has processed over $35 billion in cumulative trading volume, and has nearly 200,000 holders. The products are still unavailable to U.S. users.
