Robert Kiyosaki says expanded US long-bond buybacks amount to “printing fake dollars”

The US Treasury’s decision to expand its buyback operations for longer-dated Treasuries has sparked a fresh debate over liquidity, bond-market stress, and the purchasing power of the dollar. Beginning Sept. 9, the Treasury will raise the cap on each repurchase operation for 10-year to 30-year US government bonds from $2 billion to at least $4 billion. Officials said the move is aimed at improving market liquidity and does not qualify as quantitative easing, stressing that only the Federal Reserve can expand the monetary base. Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, rejected that distinction. He argued that more Treasury buybacks still mean more dollar liquidity entering the system and described the step as another round of “fake” money creation. Kiyosaki also pointed to weakness in the US Dollar Index, saying the move reflects inflation concerns and leaves cash savers exposed as purchasing power erodes. He repeated his long-held call for investors to hold scarce assets such as gold, silver, and Bitcoin, while also mentioning quality real estate. The debate comes as US national debt has surpassed $40 trillion and market attention remains fixed on long-dated Treasury yields, the dollar’s direction, and inflation expectations.

JPMorgan keeps bearish view on Moderna, says INT melanoma win was already priced in

JPMorgan said in an Aug. 19 research note that Moderna and Merck’s individualized neoantigen therapy, referred to as INT, met its primary endpoint in adjuvant melanoma, with recurrence-free survival showing a significant improvement. The key secondary endpoint, distant metastasis-free survival, also met the bar. Even so, the bank argued the result was widely expected and had already been reflected in Moderna’s share price before the update was released. The firm kept its Underweight rating and a $40 price target on Moderna, versus a current share price of $63 cited in the note, implying 36% downside. JPMorgan’s view is that the clinical success of INT in adjuvant melanoma is no longer the main valuation question. Instead, the next leg of value depends on whether the therapy can show similar efficacy across a broader set of tumor types. JPMorgan said it had already assigned an 85% probability of success to the phase III melanoma study, based on prior phase IIb data and the biological rationale of the approach in cancer immunotherapy. The bank added that adjuvant melanoma is a relatively small indication, and that Moderna’s roughly $25 billion market value already includes expectations for approval in this setting. It said future data in non-melanoma indications will be more important for the company’s valuation.
