US Stocks End Lower; Crypto-Related Shares Plunge, Gold and Silver Miners Slide
According to Techub News, U.S. stocks closed lower across the board, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipping 0.02%, the S&P 500 falling 0.25% and the Nasdaq Composite dropping 0.52%. Despite the daily losses, all three indices still finished August with gains: the Dow rose 0.72%, the S&P 500 gained 1.46%, and the Nasdaq was up 1.89% for the month. Precious metals related stocks also tumbled. Coeur Mining (CDE) dropped 4.84%, First Majestic Silver (AG) declined 4.53%, the iShares Silver ETF (SLV) lost 4.37%, the gold miners ETF (GDX) fell 3.88%, Newmont (NEM) slipped 3.36%, and SPDR Gold ETF (GLD) shed 3.26%. The crypto-related group saw even steeper declines, with all ten names closing lower. MARA Holdings (MARA) plunged 10.11%, Bit Brother (BTBT) slid 10.06%, CleanSpark (CLSK) lost 9.96%, Cipher Mining (CIFR) dropped 9.54%, Riot Platforms (RIOT) fell 9.05%, Hut 8 (HUT) declined 8.85%, Circle (CRCL) slid 7.58%, Strategy (MSTR) fell 7.34%, Bitmine (BMNR) dropped 7.24%, and Coinbase (COIN) closed down 6.33%.
