WEEX data shows money rotating into tech and consumer names, with semis and software leading

WEEX TradFi market data on July 29 showed capital continuing to move into technology and consumer sectors. Semiconductor and software names were among the strongest performers, with SOXS up more than 13.02% over 24 hours, while FIGMA rose 6.21%, ADBE gained 5.40%, and CRM added 4.46%. In consumer staples, KO climbed 6.08% and PEP rose 3.74%. In financial payments, PYPL advanced 4.07% and MA was up 3.71%. WEEX Labs said the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rebounded after a sharp pullback in the previous trading session. It added that the Federal Reserve rate decision and a dense schedule of earnings releases from large technology companies have prompted capital to reposition around earnings expectations and event-driven trades. WEEX also noted that its "TradFi Trading Carnival Season" is currently underway.

Rate decisions in the U.S., U.K. and Japan, plus Coinbase and Strategy earnings, lead the crypto week ahead

Crypto markets head into the week of July 27 with a dense calendar of macro releases, central bank decisions and industry-specific events that could shape digital-asset pricing. According to CoinDesk’s weekly preview, the Federal Reserve, Bank of England and Bank of Japan are all expected to leave rates unchanged, but traders are watching closely for any signal that higher energy prices could push policymakers closer to renewed tightening. CME FedWatch puts the odds of a U.S. rate hike at 33%, while prediction markets imply 19%, up from near zero earlier in the month. Thursday brings a heavier test with second-quarter U.S. GDP and June Personal Consumption Expenditures data. CoinDesk said a combination of firm growth and sticky inflation could strengthen the higher-for-longer rates trade through higher yields and a stronger dollar, while softer numbers could unwind that setup. On the crypto side, Polygon is set to deploy its Ithaca hard fork on mainnet, BitMEX will settle and delist 35 derivatives contracts, and FTX Recovery Trust is scheduled to begin its fifth creditor distribution, worth roughly $900 million. Earnings from Robinhood, Coinbase and Strategy are also due, alongside governance votes, token unlocks and industry conferences.

Stripe and Advent offer more than $53 billion to acquire PayPal

Stripe and private equity firm Advent International have submitted a joint takeover proposal for PayPal Holdings, according to Reuters. The offer values PayPal at more than $53 billion, with a price of $60.5 per share, representing roughly a 28% premium to PayPal’s Tuesday close. The bid is backed by about $50 billion in committed bank financing. Under the proposed structure, Stripe and Advent would each hold a 50% stake in the company, and PayPal would not be broken up. Reuters said the proposal was submitted earlier this month after initial contact in early April. PayPal has not responded so far. Stripe and Advent are seeking to reach an agreement by the end of the month, though it remains uncertain whether the transaction will ultimately proceed.
