Apple2026-10-20 14:09:11Apple sets up to $100 million Pennsylvania titanium supply deal for iPhone Duo under AMPApple said on Oct. 20 it will commit up to $100 million over the next three years to Perryman Company, a family-owned titanium producer in Pennsylvania, through its American Manufacturing Program, or AMP. The company said Perryman will supply titanium for products including the iPhone Duo, while Apple also announced an expanded partnership with Qnity Electronics to make advanced thin films for the variable-aperture camera in the iPhone 18 Pro. Apple’s release said the titanium used in the iPhone Duo will contain at least 80% recycled content. The announcement comes as U.S. titanium sponge supply remains fully import-dependent. According to the U.S. Geological Survey’s 2026 Mineral Commodity Summaries, the last U.S. titanium sponge plant closed in 2024, domestic output in 2025 was zero, and net import reliance reached 100%, with imports at about 44,000 metric tons. Apple has been widening its U.S. manufacturing commitments under AMP, including $2.5 billion with Corning, $500 million with MP Materials, and a Broadcom agreement expected to exceed $30 billion. Apple did not say whether the Perryman arrangement will improve near-term iPhone Duo output, even as CNBC cited Morgan Stanley saying some models showed roughly 14-week online delivery times on the first day of preorders.480
